Unique Performance of ‘The Waste Land’ Comes to Winchester's St. Lawrence's Church
Winchester's cultural landscape is about to be enriched with an exceptional theatrical event as ‘The Waste Land’ takes centre stage at St. Lawrence's Church. Directed by Rachel O'Neill, featuring Arthur L Wood, and staged in association with 2TimeTheatre, performances will be on 11th, 12th and 13th October, at 7:30 pm.

‘The Waste Land’ is a masterpiece of modernist literature, written by T.S. Eliot in 1922. In this rare performance, Rachel O'Neill's innovative direction brings new life to the powerful themes and complexities of the poetic work. The production explores human struggles, society's disconnection, and the pursuit of meaning in a fast-paced, chaotic world - themes that remain strikingly relevant even today.

Actor Arthur L Wood studied drama at Winchester University and has been granted permission from Eliot estate to bring this performance to Winchester. He takes on the challenge to bring a nuanced portrayal of the poem, delving deep into the complexities of the human psyche.

The production will be presented very simply, allowing the intimacy and beauty of the 12th Century church to become the backdrop. Cellist Katherine Hodgkinson will add to the emotional resonance with moments from Gabriel Fauré, Kenneth Jones, and others.
